Friday Night Lights in Ames
The Iowa State – Oklahoma State game last Friday was – simply put – the most exciting Iowa State game I’ve seen. Since I’ve been a fan quite some time ago, we’ve had a ton of ups (and downs): a few wins over Nebraska, a win at Texas, a few wins over Iowa, 3 coaches, Seneca Wallace. But nothing compares to those ups, and all of those downs become worth it, especially when I know that we have a great coach and quality guy in Paul Rhoads (his after the game speech shows how much he cares about his guys).
My good friend Britt captured this photo of the fans rushing the field after the win, singing Sweet Caroline as ESPN signed off of one of the most memorable games of the season, and a start to a wild weekend in college football.
After such a great game, how do they show up in Norman against OU? Can they springboard off of a gigantic victory, where they outplayed the number 2 team in the nation and prove they are a legitimate contender? Or will the crap the bed, and many will wonder if the win over OSU was a fluke, or a matter of being in the right place at the right time?
Only time will tell (I feel like I went back to my sports-writing days on this one – good times…).
