It’s been a wild journey, and I’ve learned a lot in a short period of time. Here are the basics.
PlattForm Advertising – Director of Web Marketing
My current position is the Director of Web Marketing at PlattForm. Basically, our entire team focuses on PlattForm-owned revenue generating properties. We have many people: Site Managers, SEO Specialists, Social Media Specialists, Web Designers, and Web Developers. It’s extremely exciting and changes every single day. PlattForm Advertising – Web Design Manager
After stepping out of my own small business and focusing full time on PlattForm, I got a great opportunity to become the Web Design Manager, managing a team of Web Designers, Web Developers, and vendors. This was a major challenge, but was an awesome experience. I learned a lot about people, motivation, innovation, and organization. I came up with budgets, met with clients, managed employees, reported on accruals and actuals, and had a great time doing it all.
PlattForm Advertising – SEO Specialist, Senior SEO Specialist
I immediately joined PlattForm once my internship was completed, and was amazed by the number of intelligent people I was surrounded by. At PlattForm, I really pushed my SEO knowledge and worked my way up to Senior SEO Specialist. I worked directly with a number of internal teams, as well as many clients.
Self Ventures (Undisclosed Name due to NDA) – Owner, Simultaneous with my time at PlattForm
While at PlattForm, I decided to start my own business, then go into business with a couple other people. We tackled some really cool projects, focusing on Web Design and Development and Software Development, as well as some marketing. We built our own sites and became affiliates with several different companies. Although my first self venture did not work out, I did learn a lot from it, especially from the amount of work that goes into running your own small business. I have mad respect for those that do every day.
Gragg Advertising – Interactive Intern
This was my first full-time experience in the world of the interwebs. I mainly wrote content, but this is where I also began to teach myself SEO and some more web development.
Iowa State Daily – Copy Editor, Reporter, Staff Writer, Sports Editor
While at Iowa State University, I worked for the Iowa State Daily. I started out as a copy editor, became a reporter then staff writer, and ultimately ended up the Sports Editor. It was a great time. Although I used to be somewhat of a night owl, the nights were late. However, I learned to organize myself and quickly turn out a great product. It really was the beginning of my career, and the foundation for who I am now.
